Worship at First Baptist Church of Commerce is designed to honor and glorify God and to provide people with an opportunity to encounter his love and grace. The services feature creative approaches in a traditional setting. Sermons are biblically-based and intellectually challenging. The pastor encourages you to contact him with questions and comments regarding the services. First Baptist features some of the finest sacred music in the area and we are blessed with many talented musicians. Lay members of the congregation are also integrally involved in worship.

Worship themes follow the Common Lectionary for the most part and special emphases are featured during Advent, Lent and other times during the church year. At least once a year we are led in worship by our youth and at least once each year by our children. The worship experience is enhanced by the use of liturgical symbols and colors and each Sunday morning worship service begins with a child, serving as Acolyte, bringing forth the light that symbolizes God’s presence. The Sunday morning services feature a time for children in the sanctuary and a children’s church that begins when the younger children leave the sanctuary following the offering.

We hope you will join us for worship and that you will find an atmosphere that is warm and inviting and that assists you in focusing on your relationship with God. Our prayer is that you will hear and experience the Good News of Christ in a way that will encourage you to place your trust in him and strengthen your journey with him. We look forward to meeting you.
