LOCAL Mission opportunities

coronavirus and us

Since the beginning of COVID-19 arriving in Commerce, FBC congregants and local folks have learned unique ways to Be The Church. We have had many opportunities to serve Commerce senior citizens, nurses and emergency responders, and others who are in need. Below is a slide-show of some pictures taken before, during and after serving one another.

If you have pictures or a story to share, please email Georgia or message the First Baptist Church of Commerce Facebook Page.

Meals on wheels

FBC provides volunteers who deliver meals each weekday through the Jackson County Senior Citizen's Center. Volunteers pick-up meals at the center and deliver 10 to 12 residents in the Commerce area. Contact the church office to volunteer or contact Jackson Co. Senior Citizen Center for information on receiving meals.

Jars of joy

Some of our talented ladies have partnered with Southern Touch Flowers during this tough time of sheltering-in-place to spread joy to those in assisted living homes.

If you have glass jelly jars, bottles, mason jars, vases, etc. without labels on them please drop them off on the church porch! If you'd like to know more ways you can help with this ministry, contact Susan for more information.

QUILTing ministry

“Comfort Quilts” are designed to offer comfort to people in our local community who are enduring life-altering illnesses. Our quilters are made up of members and friends of First Baptist Church of Commerce. Anyone who would like to help with these quilts is invited to come to our Quilt Ministry room on Wednesdays at the church.
