Winter Bible Study 2012

The focus of this year’s Winter Bible Study is one of the earliest parts of the New Testament, written before AD 50. The original recipients of the letter were early followers of Jesus who were being forced out of the city of Jerusalem by a combination of religious and political leaders. The advice they were given and what they were encouraged to do is a far cry from the way today’s church responds to adversity.

The theology of this letter is often portrayed as being at odds with the theology of Paul. Yet, careful study reveals that may not be the case at all.

Perhaps the most unique aspect of this letter is that the author grew up with Jesus. What would be the most amazing aspect? Undoubtedly that would be that the author rejected Jesus’ identity as Messiah while Jesus was teaching and preaching.

Join us for the final four Sundays in January as we study the letter of James. We will meet January 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th in the Friendly 57 classroom at 6:00pm each evening.
