Over the last few years the college students in our church have been attending an event called Now Serving ATL. I have been on the planning committee for this weekend of service for three years. I must share with you that a lot of planning goes into getting this event ready. We plan worship, coordinate the mission sites for each group to work, figure out all of the logistics of where to go and how to get there, organize the meals, and much more.
This weekend for the college students allows them to connect with other Baptist students in Georgia and gives them the opportunity to serve the community of Atlanta and worship together. This time together is much needed for these students to continue to grow in their faith and in fellowship together. I am grateful to the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Georgia and to McAfee School of Theology for sponsoring this event which makes room for these students. I have shared all of this with you because I believe this weekend for these students is important. I also need your help. On Friday night after worship the students gather for fellowship time. Each year we have asked congregations to provide snacks for this time together. This year I am asking you to donate baked goods and non-refrigerated snacks for these students to congregate around. I will be placing sign up sheets in your Sunday school baskets this week for you to let me know what you plan to bring. I will need the snacks by Friday, February 4 at 11am. Thank you for your help in welcoming college students during Now Serving ATL.
